Constantino "Dino" Anast passed away peacefully at age 84 in his home on August 6, 2017 surrounded by his wife, children and other loved ones.

Dino was born on October 4, 1932 in Fresno, CA to George and Alexandra Anast. The family then moved to Alameda, CA in 1936 and by 1937, Dino was blessed with a baby brother, Peter. After Dino finished Stockton Junior College, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean war. Upon the completion of his service, he attended Utah State University where he played football for the Aggies and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

Constantino In 1960 the Anast family boarded the ship Olympia and sailed to Greece. On board Dino met his soon to be wife, Emily Stamatakis and on June 25, 1961 they were married at the Greek Orthodox Church in Emily's home town of Savannah, GA. They started their family in Oakland, CA and in 1976 moved to Walnut Creek.

Dino is survived by his wife Emily, his daughter Alexandra Scarvelis, his daughter Yvonne Erb and her husband Jeff, his son George Anast and his wife Niki, and his 5 grandchildren Steven, Nicholas and Stamatia Scarvelis, and Ariana and Roman Anast. He is also survived by his brother Peter and his wife Paula and other loving family members and dear friends. Dino will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ascension Cathedral Building Fund.

The funeral service will be held Friday August 11, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension at 4700 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, CA. Interment Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette, CA. For further information please call: Harry W. Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745).
