DAVID L. CARTER SR.

OAKLAND, Calif. Funeral services for David Lamont Carter Sr., 52, were held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Pearly Gates Church of God in Christ in Stockton, Calif. Burial followed services in Cherokee Memorial Park with services directed by Jesse E. Cooley Jr. Funeral Services Inc. of Stockton, Calif. Local announcements were handled by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter died Jan. 3. He was born in Oakland, Calif., a son of the late Rev. Albert and Beatrice Cater. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a high school graduate of Oakland High School. He attended Merrit College and later furthered his education at Humphrey's College, obtaining his bachelor's degree.

Surviving are his wife, Lowarn Cater; one son, David L. Carter Jr.; one sister, Jacqueline (Aaron) Dixon; one brother, Gregory (Deiadra) Carter; a mother-in-law, Queen Ester Douglas; one sister-in-law, Lillie Lane; two aunts, Ruth Grimes and Dorothy Acker; two nieces, six nephews; a host of other close relatives and friends.
