Dr. Julia Elizabeth Bickerton passed away at home on November 3, 2005
after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Concord, California on July 28, 1953
and she attended Oakland High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical
Education from California State University at Hayward and her Doctor of Chiropractic
from Palmer College of Chiropractic-West in 1985. She taught at Palmer College for over
a decade. She practiced chiropractic in Los Altos for nearly 20 years.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Nona and Bernard Hamilton
of Davis; her sister and brother-in-law, Gaylie and Pierce Stewart of Grass Valley; her
sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Scott Moore of Placerville; her nieces, Bevin Bell and Caroline Moore;
her nephews, Preston, Avery and Addison Moore; and many loving friends, colleagues, students
and patients.
Julia had a wicked sense of humor, a passion for learning and an obsession
with surfing. She was always happiest riding a wave. We will always love her dearly and
remember her.
A memorial service will be held at Palmer College of Chiropractic-West at
90 East Tasman Drive, San Jose, on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 1:00 pm. The family requests
in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Surfrider Foundation. We hope that you and your loved
ones may enjoy the beach and the waves as much as Julia did.
