Richard James Hendrix Born: January 28, 1950 Died: July 17, 2008, of colon cancer

Was born in Oakland, CA, son of John James Hendrix and Barbara (Stuart) Hendrix; and brother of Diane Davis (Cincinnati, OH) and Dwight Hendrix (Kensington, CA). He is predeceased by his father.

After graduating from Oakland High, he attended one year at UC Davis, and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1972. He subsequently received a master's in public policy from the University of Michigan. In the 1980s, Richard worked for the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C., as a budget analyst for labor-related legislation. He returned to the Bay Area in 1986 to work for Pacific Bell in San Ramon and S.F. He subsequently worked for PG&E as an economist and rate analyst until his death. Richard enjoyed his job, was well-liked and respected and had many friends at work.

Richard married Kathleen Kelly in 1985 in Washington, D.C., and they have two children, Elizabeth (19) and Christopher (17). Richard was a true family man and spent most of his free time with them. In addition to his wife and children, Richard leaves many in-laws, nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States. He was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Richard on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 30 Mandalay Rd., Oakland, with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
