ANTHONY K. NELSON Lovingly known as Tony, was born January 17th, 1949 in Berkeley, CA to the union of Willie C. Nelson Sr. and Sunshine A. Nelson. He was the 4th of 5 children. Tony graduated from Oakland High School in 1967 where he excelled academically and athletically. In 1974 he earned his BA in Sociology from San Francisco State. Tony was a long time employee of the City of Oakland. He worked for the Office of Parks and Rec., and later for the city of Oakland's Purchasing Dept. where he served as the first African American Buyer from 1973 to 1995. Tony was a family man. Tirelessly loyal, always forgiving, he never turned anyone away. He was a devoted, loving, and playful father.
