Patricia Anne Bakewell

Patricia Anne Miller of Big Oak Flat died Thursday at her home of natural causes. She was 55.

She was born in San Jose and lived in the Bay Area, primarily in Oakland. She attended Oakland schools and graduated from Oakland High School in 1967. After she married her husband, Thomas, in 1968, they moved to Michigan, where he was stationed in the U.S. Coast Guard.

They moved to Sonora in 1976 and lived there for three years before they moved to South Carolina. She graduated with an associate's degree in accounting from Trident Technical College in North Charleston, S.C.

They returned to Sonora in 1985 and lived there until moving to Big Oak Flat in 1993. She worked as a medical biller for Blue Shield, Sonora Community Hospital and Sonora Regional Medical Center.

Her hobbies included gardening and collecting ceramic ducks. She loved to travel and camp outdoors, especially along the California coastline, her family added, and she loved to read and was especially interested in Gold Rush history.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Thomas Miller; daughters and son-in-law, Ariana Miller of Las Vegas and Wendy and John Moresi of Sacramento; a grandson, Colby Moresi and another grandson due on Dec. 9; a brother, Bob Bakewell of Oakdale; nephews, Chris Bakewell of Oakdale, Morgan Miller of New York and Barry Howard of Truckee, Nevada County; a cousin, Floyd Barker of Alameda; mother and father-in-law, Marjorie and Dale Miller of Oakland; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Greg Howard of Oregon and Jan and Ramona Miller of Santa Cruz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurine and Clifton Bakewell; and an aunt, Rossie Barker.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Private burial is scheduled at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.
