Roxanne Wallace Smith died at home on October 19th, 2001, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Roxanne was born on December 18, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to Oakland, Calif. with her
parents by car in mid-summer of 1960. During that long journey leaving friends behind, she saw many wonderful towns and cities
and countryside. But she fell in love with Lake Tahoe at first sight and vowed she would live there some day. She did just that...working
in casinos in both Tahoe and Reno. In most recent years she worked as a supervisor at the Reno-Hilton whose employee-friends have
been most supportive during her illness.
Roxanne is survived by her devoted parents, John and Jo Wallace; her cherished daughter, Amber Smith; a beloved sister,
Joanne Wilson; and a most remarkable grandson, James Smith, Jr.
Roxanne wished to have her ashes scattered in a stream leading to Lake Tahoe. A Memorial Service will be held at
Walton's Sparks Funeral Home on Friday, October 26, 2001, at 1:00 PM. The family requests that any donations be sent to Vista Care
Foundation, 6225 Neil Rd., Reno, NV 89511.
