Mar. 23, 1930 - Mar. 17, 2009 Resident of Oakland, CA Nancy was the second child born to Abraham and Freda Curshen in Phoenix, Arizona. The family moved to California where she attended Oakland High School
and San Francisco State University. She met her future husband, Eliezer, while she was working at Edy's Restaurant. They bought a home in Oakland where they raised four children and were married for 56 years. Late in their lives, Nancy and Eliezer were determined to provide for their family and started a typewriter sale and repair business, which lasted for 25 years. Through her volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, PTA, and Fruitvale Elementary School, Nancy developed lifelong friendships that embodied respect and compassion. Nancy and Eliezer's interests in music, travel, food, learning, and Jewish traditions continued on through their children and grandchildren. Nancy was an avid reader and enjoyed reading to her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for family and friends and always came bearing gifts. Musicals and old movies were a favorite pastime of Nancy's and she was often heard singing along. She not only loved going with her family on many camping trips, but also on outings to visit people and explore new places and things. Unconditional love was Nancy's biggest gift, especially for her family. A caring and generous friend, wife and mother, she was loved by all she met and will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
