Former Resident of Rossmoor Joan Haviland Warren, age 79, died on Friday,
October 24th 2008 following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Joan was born
August 31, 1929, in Orland, California, to the late Carlton Andrew Haviland and Lurline
Victoria DeMarais. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1947. In 1953 she married James
Anderson Warren at St. Mark's Episcopal Church California. She graduated from Syracuse
University with a degree in Physical Education in 1955. She enjoyed working for Hewlett
Packard where she retired in 1996. Joan loved the outdoors; some of her favorite outdoor
activities were playing tennis, golf, skiing, riding horses, hiking and taking pictures of
nature.
Joan is survived by her two children, Barbara Van Tassel and Robert James Warren;
her two sisters, Marion Haviland Cooper and Barbara Haviland Stolz; her brother, Perry
Haviland; Three grandchildren, Adam Andersen Warren, Trent Jensen Warren and Lindsey
Elisabeth Warren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2008 1pm at Saint
Anselm's Church 682 Michael Lane, Lafayette, California. Father John Sutton will officiate.
A memorial fund has been established in Joan's Name at the National Parkinson Foundation.
