ALEX P. PHILLIPS Passed away on May 7, 2003 in Oakland, CA. He was born on November 27, 1924 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Following graduation from Oakland High School, Alex volunteered and joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and fought with the O.S.S. unit in WWII. Alex was a founding and life time member of the following: Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church of Castro Valley, St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center, and Trinity Children and Family Services. He was a member of the Diocesan Council of the San Francisco Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Ascension Historical Committee, and an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. Alex is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Anna, daughter Karen, son and daughter in law Peter and Emma. He is the adoring. "Papou" of Alex. He was preceded in death by his sister Thelma and two brothers, Perry and Van. Trisagion service will be Monday, May 12, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. both services will be held at the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church, 20104 Center St., Castro Valley, CA 94546.
