78, died Decemer 11, 2001 in Santa Barbara. Born 1923 in Oakland to Alonzo B. and Wilma Robbins Ordway,
much of her childhood was spent in a number of localities in California and Cuba where her family lived
in connection with her father's supervision of highway paving and other endeavors of industrialist Henry J. Kaiser.
After completing Oakland High School, Barbara attended Mills College where she
graduated in 1945.
During WW II, her volunteer work included activity on the local War Board, Red Cross and
assistance following the tragic munitions explosion in Benicia.
In 1946, she married Jack Klukkert in Berkeley, and they lived first in Southern California
and then moved to Illinois. In 1966, Barbara was in a near fatal automobile accident and suffered a serious
head injury that was to shape the rest of her life. In 1989, after the death of her husband, Barbara moved to Santa Barbara.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Jim, Steve and Christine; four grandchildren;
and her brother, Edward Ordway, and his wife, Dorice Ordway of Piedmont, California,
and their three children.
Per her wishes, Barbara was cremated with interment at a later date next to her husband in Redding, California.
