Barbara Manakoff Resident of Pleasant Hill Barbara Jean Manakoff, nee, Brown, was born September 9, 1923 in Oakland, CA and departed this life on May 6, 2011 at the age of 87. She spent her childhood in Oakland attending school and graduating from Oakland High in 1941. She became a "Rosie" and worked at the Richmond ship yards during the war. She fell in love with Lee Manakoff and in 1950 they married and moved to Pleasant Hill, CA. They shared a love for travel and became globe trotters and cruise enthusiasts. She was involved with philanthropic groups such as Ebells, Montclair Woman's Club, and East Bay Opera League. Barbara is survived by her brother Roger Brown, nieces Terri Hunt & Linda Cheek, & nephew Scott Brown. Our wishes for her to be at peace and free of pain go with her, she will be missed.
