Dale Parrish Apr. 6, 1922 - Apr. 20, 2010 Resident of Castro Valley Born April 6, 1922 in San Jose, CA, deceased April 20, 2010 following a major stroke in November 2009. Dale grew up in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School in 1940. He was in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1946. Dale and his future wife, Darleen McGlynn, met in 1946, married August 26, 1950 in Reno, NV and made Castro Valley their home in 1951. Darleen had a daughter, Arleen, by a previous marriage who Dale was proud to adopt. Over the years he was employed as a salesman for General Paint, Glidden Paint, Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro, and Jim Moran Chevrolet in Fremont. He retired in 1981. Dale is preceded in death by Darleen, his wife of 52 years, his parents Earl and Anna Parrish, and three brothers, Earl, Charles, and George. He is survived by his daughter, Arleen Perdue (Sam) of Battle Mountain, NV; grandchildren Jennette Bakker (Glenn) of Lovelock, NV and Timothy Cody of Riverbank, CA; great grandchildren Cody Bakker, Sarah Bakker, and Brittany Cody; nieces and nephews Gail Lowe, Sharon Clayson (Kendall), George Parrish (Elizabeth), Stephen Parrish, Carol Dolan (Mike), Sandra Horat and sister-in-law Stella Parrish. Dale will be greatly missed by Harold Wright, a friend since high school, and the entire Wright family who considered him a part of their family; his close friend Barbara Jackson; and too many to name long-time friends, all of his neighbors, and the gang at McDonalds. Dale loved talking with people, tinkering with cars, flying in and piloting airplanes, building projects for his family, traveling, attending doll club functions and garage sales with his wife, Darleen. We're really, really going to miss you Papa Dale you were a unique man. No services will be held at his request. Dale and Darleen's ashes will be scattered together at a later time not yet determined. Deer Creek Funeral Services in San Leandro is handling the arrangements.
