LaVerne Gertrude Cavis Mar. 29, 1922 - Sept. 14, 2010 Resident of Alameda LaVerne G. Cavis passed away peaceably on Sept. 14, 2010 at the age of 88. Born in San Diego, CA to Robert and Grace Kelland, their only child. She grew up in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School in 1940. She had a career in sales at Kahn's Department Store for 20 years. LaVerne married her sweet heart, Charles Morris Cavis in 1947 and they enjoyed a beautiful life together for 47 years, before his passing in 1994. LaVerne is survived by a second cousin, Annette Taylor, and her two children, Ziryan Taylor and Xandria Taylor in Oregon. A service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, Oct. 17th at the Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 2311 Buena Vista Ave., Alameda, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals On Wheels, Buena Vista United Methodist Church or your favorite local charity.
