Paul William Loze Sept. 10, 1918 - Aug. 26, 2009 Resident of Walnut Creek, formerly of Moraga Beloved father of Carolyn Doughty of Long Beach and Barbara Corsi of Orinda; grandfather of Kelley De La Fuente and David Doughty of Long Beach, Elizabeth Corsi and Robert Corsi of Santa Barbara; great-grandfather of Alexis and Giada De La Fuente of Long Beach; brother-in-law of Phyllis Carlson, and Don and Claire Everson of Burlingame, and Helen Loze of San Leandro. Paul was the cherished husband of Lenore Loze who passed away April 1, 2008. They were married for over 60 years. Paul touched many lives with his warm and enthusiastic personality. He was born in Oakland, California as was his mother, Tusnelda. He graduated from Oakland High School and attended the University of California - Berkeley, Dartmouth College, and McGeorge School of Law. He served in the US Navy as a pilot in World War II and the Korean War. Paul attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and received the Distinguished Flying Cross (for heroism and extraordinary achievement) and the Purple Cross. He retired from Pacific Telephone as the Director of Community Relations - Bay Area. Paul served as President of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, Contra Costa Taxpayer's Association, Telephone Pioneers/Ladd Chapter, and Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club, Athenian Nile, and Sons In Retirement (SIRS). Paul enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, photography, going to the gym, walking, and church activities. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Sunday, September 13th, 2009, at 2:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 5201 Park Boulevard, Piedmont, 94611. A reception will follow in the Garden Room. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Zion Lutheran Church.
