Raymond Stanley Newman Raymond Stanley Newman, 83 of Norman, Oklahoma, died Sunday, March 10, 2002 in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 14, 2002 at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Sharp and Reverend Bill Blair officiating. Private Interment will follow at the Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Bill Anglin, Gene Brown, Henry Enterline, Stanley Ferguson, Terry Fischer, Bill Hetherington, Jim Jinkins and Raymond Dale Stephens. Honorary Bearers are Kenneth Ferguson, James Gordon, Clark Hetherington, Kenneth Kienlen, Robert W. Reeds, Jim Stephens and Dr. Thomas Merrill. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.

Ray Stanley Newman was born October 21, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to Raymond and Anna Mae Eicher Newman. He graduated from Oakland High School, Oakland, California, and attended the University of California at Berkeley. Following this, he graduated from the General Motors School of Technology in Flint, Michigan.

Ray married Marilynn Smith in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 13, 1943. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Briarus in the Pacific during WWII.

Following his military service, he became a partner with his father-in-law in the Smith-Newman Dodge Plymouth Agency in Edmond, Oklahoma. Together they opened the Smith-Newman Olds-Cadillac dealership in Norman. Ray, with his wife, Marilynn, conducted the Newman Estate Liquidations and Sales in the Metro area, retiring after thirty years. He was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Sandra Ellen. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marilynn, of the home; three daughters, Carolynn Newman of San Antonio, Texas, Jacquelynn Stephens and her husband, Jim, Susan Ferguson and her husband, Stanley; and grandson. Raymond Dale Stephens of Norman, Oklahoma.
