HELEN MARIE GILBERT Passed away quietly at home, February 23, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Born in San Jose on April 17, 1916, daughter of the late Jacob and Adeline Gilbert. A long-time resident of Oakland, Richmond, and the last 20 years in Hayward. She attended Franklin Grammar School in Oakland and was a June 1934 graduate of Oakland High School. She worked 42 years with Standard Oil (Chevron) in Richmond, was a member of the Retirees' Association, and was president of the Desk and Derrick Club of San Francisco in 1972 and 1977. She enjoyed arts and crafts, entertaining, and loved traveling. . She is survived by her brother James Gilbert and his wife Bobbie of Colorado, a niece Carol Parkinson of Colorado, a nephew Steve Gilbert of Mariposa, many cousins and many, many friends. She is also survived by her long-time friend and caregiver, Virginia Sims of Hayward. She was 85. A Service of Remembrance will be held on March 22, 2002, at 2062 Boca Raton, Hayward, CA at 2:00 pm.
