Grandfather of Sarah, Julie, Joey, Danny and Mark Lazar; Annie and Michael Rothmann. A lifelong resident of Oakland, he was in the first graduating class of Oakland High School, Graduate of U.C. Berkeley. Chemical engineer and food technologist at the Western Regional Research Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he worked for 37 years. Published 58 papers. Listed in Who's Who in Science. Life master in tournament bridge. Services were held Sept. 19 at the Colonial Chapel, Oakland. Interment at Home of Peace Cemetery, Oakland.
