Edward Robbins "Ned" Ordway

EDWARD ROBBINS (NED) ORDWAY Passed away peacefully at his home in Piedmont after a brief illness on February 9, 2003. He was 87. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorice Eddy Ordway. Born March 27, 1915 in Nanaimo, B.C. to Alonzo and Wilma Ordway. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1932 and attended U.C. Berkeley where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity, graduating in 1936. He and Dorice were married in 1942 in Los Angeles. Ned, a Civil Engineer, served for 45 years as an employee of Kaiser Industries and his career included positions at the shipyards in Portland, Oregon during World War II and at the Kaiser-Fraser factories in California, Michigan and Indiana. A man of great honesty, integrity and loyalty, he continued his career at Kaiser as an Executive Assistant and Vice President at World Headquarters, Kaiser Center, Oakland until his retirement in 1976. A Piedmont resident since 1954, he enjoyed photography, model railroading, traveling to Europe, most particularly England, and spending time with is family. Mr. Ordway was preceded in death by his parents and dear sister, Barbara Klukkert. Along with Dorice, his beloved wife of 61 years, he is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and George Schairer of Seattle, Washington, Nancy and Tom MacDonald of Prineville, Oregon and Susan and Jeff Rolla' of Bend, Oregon and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two nephews, Jim and Steve Klukkert and niece, Christine Klukkert-Nilsson. His entire family will remember his wonderful sense of humor and his kind, patient and generous spirit. A private family service was held in his memory.
