Mary Merle Eugenia Golphin
June 14, 1908 - May 10, 2002

Merle Golphin, native Californian entered into rest at er Berkeley home on Friday, May 10, 2002

Merle was born in Sanger, California and moved to Oakland in her early years graduating from Oakland High School.

She married Elwyn "Buck" T. Golphin in 1934, who preceded her in death.

Merle retired in 1970 from Naval Supply Center, Oakland. She was an active member of St. Paul AME Church, Berkeley, where she served as a Stewardess and Missionary. She was a member of NARF, Chapter #40, Oakland, Buelah Chapter O.E.S., Oakland, past Grand Daughter Ruler and member of Campanile Temple #603, Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World.

Merle leaves behind her son, Elwyn "Buzz" Golphin of Berkeley, California. Grandchildren, Cheryl Thornhill of Mission Viejo, California; Alicia Barney and grandson-in-law, Donna Golphin of Antioch, California; step grandson, Teddy Thompson of Corona, California. Five great-grandchildren, Roderick II, Gregory and Ryan Golphin, Tiffany Wills and Taylor Barney. One great-great-grandson, Chase Golphin. Two nieces, Yvonne Scott of San Francisco and Maureen Brown of Berkeley and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Merle lived a full and blessed ninety-three years and will be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend Quiet Hour and Fraternal services on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, 6:30PM at Fouche's Hudson Funeral Home, 3665 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, California and Funeral services on Thursday, May 16, 2002, 11AM at St. Paul AME Church, 2024 Ashby Avenue, Berkeley, California.
