HELEN COAKLEY DONOVAN November 3, 1908 - May 10, 2002

Helen Donovan passed away on Friday at the age of 93. Born in El Paso, Texas, Helen was a long-time Oakland (Montclair) resident , a graduate of Oakland High School and attended U.C. Berkeley. She has resided in Walnut Creek since 1968. She was an active member of several school and community organizations in Oakland and Walnut Creek, including the Montclair PTA, the Montclair Women's Chorale, and John Muir Hospital Auxiliary. Her interests revolved around her family and friends, and she also enjoyed travel and reading. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wm. R. Donovan, and her brother Sherman Coakley. Survivors include sons Gary Donovan (Marie) of Sacramento and Drew Donovan (Lolly) of San Mateo; grandchildren Ellyn Donovan, Molly Donovan Coomber (Chris), Michael Donovan (Colleen), Mary Donovan Dannelley (Michael), and Megan Donovan (Hayes Green); great-grandchildren William and Kate Coomber, Drew and Gavin Donovan and Sean Dannelley; nephews, Lou and Jim Bill; Jerald and Tom Coakley, and niece, and Anne Coakley Jamieson. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John Vianney Church in Walnut Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2002.
